Body of Lies

Maybe it’s just me, but I miss the days when Ridley Scott made movies about aliens and cyborgs, Alien and Blade Runner being two of my favorite genre films of all time. Starting with G.I. Jane in 1997, Scott has made a series of movies that glorify militarism in various guises… Gladiator, Black Hawk Down, Kingdom of Heaven… His latest, Body of Lies, could be more of the same. The trailer suggests a promising thriller, but it’s questionable whether Scott’s latest film will have anything insightful to say about the Middle East, or simply use the ongoing violence there as an excuse to play with guns and film things explode.
