Persepolis

By Demon

Amazing animation, some of the best I’ve seen in a film, with a wondrous use of negative visual space tells fascinating story of sulky, smart Iranian girl who has every reason to be sulky. Bearded religious police are unforgettably iconic. Haggling for black market Iron Maiden tapes is priceless. Persepolis comes at perfect time as American - Iranian political tensions build once again  and serves to remind us that most Iranians are not religious wackos and instead under bad leadership, even worse than ours.
