Quantum of Solace
After watching the last James Bond movie, Casino Royale, I couldn’t help but think that 20 years ago newcomer Daniel Craig would have been playing the villain and not the hero in this series. His look is not all that different from
Erich Kriegler, the East German biathalete bad guy in For Your Eyes Only, and his attitude is worse. With the strangely named Quantum of Solace (no, this is not a sequel to Moonraker), the newer, angrier James Bond looks to continue to express his internal rage with plentiful machine guns, explosions, and dark wit.
Why has James Bond gone to the Dark Side? Is this series merely capitalizing on the popular trend of comic books (and comic book movies) where even traditionally cheery heroes like Spiderman have become brooding, angst-ridden vigilantes? Or does Bond’s cauldron of rage reflect some greater societal frustration we have yet to identify? Quantum of Solace may not provide the answers to these questions, but it will definitely give you a chance to see something blow up before the holidays. - Demon
