Thor
High level weirdness is afoot. Not only is one of the strangest concepts in comics — The Mighty Thor, in which a Norse god does time on earth as an amnesiac doctor — being brought to the cinema, but it’s being helmed by Kenneth Branagh, generally known for his involvement in loftier things. Add to this the planned purchase of Marvel Comics by the Walt Disney Corporation, and who knows what kind of spaced out mountain ride we are in for when Thor hits screens this summer.
Apparently there is a first draft screenplay for Thor floating around the internet that tried to get rid of all the Marvel mumbo jumbo and just tell a bloody yarn about the gods in Asgard. Comic nerds balked, and apparently Thor is wandering around earth again without his memory. Chris Hemsworth (the new Kirk from the new Star Trek) has been cast as Thor and the legendary Brian Blessed as Odin. Yep, it’s gonna be a weird one…
