Almost a decade ago, my sister-in-law’s young friends saw the movie Titanic and were surprised when the boat sank. A bit more grown up now, I wonder if they will feel similarly shocked when Hitler survives in this movie about a failed assassination attempt on his life. Hopefully the fascinating details of this story will more than make up for the well known and saddening ending. Can you sit there and watch this trailer without mournfully wishing if only? Certainly Bryan Singer, mastermind behind The Usual Suspects, is aware of the challenges he faces in telling this story and has a few tricks up his sleeve, not the least of which is the spectacle of seeing Tom Cruise wearing an eye patch.
